With the taxman checking incoming flights for the return of the cap he has been thrown. The badger has rerouted to the Cayman Islands.
Not only that, with his new found fame he has managed to get an interview with the Cayman Islands coach regarding the ICC World Cup Division 5 tournament starting on Saturday in Singapore. His latest report reads
Following my very enjoyable visit to Argentina I was inspired by the teams upcoming tournament in Singapore and thought........as Ive seen Argentina prepare I wonder if I can get to Cayman?
Well after a bit of ducking and weaving and some help from a shoeshine man named Hector at Newark Airport (picture to follow) I found myself on my way to the Cayman Islands. Well what a place this is............blue sea, white sand and of course.....cricket.
The cricketers here are a mixture of Natural Caymanians and a lot of ex pats from around the Carribean and they love their cricket. I went along to practice one night to see if I could get a feel for the game over there and would you believe it...........I finished up sat on the head of the Coach, a man known affectionately as "Coach Frankie".
As we traded stories about cricket in Cayman and cricket at Thrumpton he said he was coming to England later this year and would maybe visit........I told him to bring his drinking boots and as the night went on he showed me they were very big shoes he had!
Anyway I asked him how he felt the team were shaping up and he said " that relegation from Division 4 in Italy 2 years ago had led to a big change in attitude on the team, more acceptance that fitness was important and that they needed to practice like they played and not expect to be different on game day than practice night"
Cayman are sending a couple of bowlers to spend a month at Notts this season so who knows, with our new found links we may see them down at the home of cricket watching how its done!!!
Up the Badgers!
