The new limit will apply on the five-and-a-half mile rural section between the M1 junction 24 and Clifton.

A reduced speed limit in the urban area in clifton will be put in place at a later date.

Meanwhile from next Tuesday, Barton Lane will be permanently closed to traffic between its junction with the A453 and Nottingham Road. This will allow it to be converted into a public footpath, bridleway and private means of access.
