The 1st team had some struggles this year due to loss of players, injuries and lack of availability. However, there was a lot of positives with many young players having a vital role to play which has helped with their development and will hold them in good stead for the year ahead.
We made some great signing during the season, Jake, Shaq and the return of Uzzy and they were instrumental in the 2nd half of the season.
The thing that stood out for me the most this season was the coming together of the 1st team and the whole club, this ranged from the turning up early and warming up, to staying for a drink after the game, there is a good atmosphere around the club and this will help with the club aspiring to bigger and better things.
Some key performances this year were from Callum G 100 at Unity, Shak 121 against Farndon, even myself 89, 87 against Farndon and Lowdham. Bowling wise Uzzy 6 against East Leake, Saif 5 against Unity and 4 in the last game against Madni.
The 1st team were involved in some fantastic seesaw battles having no right to chase down 272 against Farndon and winning the final game away to Madni chasing down 205.
We stayed up just, however if the team that played the last 6 weeks plays regularly next season we will be challenging for promotion.
1st team player of the year is Callum Gilbert, who as well as being the top run scorer was instrumental in the training drills, advice on fielding positions and just a pleasure to have in the squad.
Onwards and upwards.
