Later in life he became a prominent solicitor and was knighted for his services, becoming President of the Law Society in 1936.
Both H A Dowson and H A Cursham were selected for Notts Amateurs to play a two day game against the MCC the same season.
Henry Cursham was a Notts County and England International footballer whose record as the player who had scored the most ever goals in the FA Cup being 49 in total over 10 years. He had played for England 8 times as a footballer, was he related to the Curshams in the village?
Henry Arthur "Harry" Cursham (27 November 1859 — 6 August 1941) was an English footballer and cricketer. Cursham was born in Wilford, Nottinghamshire, and played for Notts County, as well as playing first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire. He was born in Wilford and died in Holme Pierrepont.
His cricketing career was slightly different playing 2 games for Nottinghamshire. His first being in 1880 and his second some 44 years later.
