Simon Ireland played for Thrumpton in the mid 90's and was a recognised number 4 batsman. He joined the club from Inland Revenue where he was a consistant pain in the butt as he was always difficult to get out.

He joined when Inland Revenue folded and came to the club with Inam Malik, Alan Kirkup and the infamous Paul Burns. Playing in the 1st team he scored many runs.

Nowadays he watches his boy play for Burton Joyce junior under 15's and keeps a close eye on his batting technique
