The AnnualGeneral Meeting was held at Thrumpton Hall on Tuesday November 17th 1989. The chair was taken by the President Mr G Seymour. 25 members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

Apologies for absence were recieved from Mr D Kemp.

The Treasurers report was circulated to each member and the Treasurer Mr W Pepper answered questions concerning items in the report. Thanks was given to Andy Footitt for continuing to sell lottery tickets. Also there were fines to the club for not providing an umpire at certain matches. Repairs to the sightscreens and gangmowers plus increased insurance costs came to $1836.00p.

Ivan Adkin gave a vote of thanks for the ladies who had made the teas for the teams during the season.

It was suggested the the Annual Subscriptions should be raised fro $10 to $15. After a discussion about the increase, Geoff Shaw proposed that it be accepted and it was carried unanimously. It was also proposed to increase the match tax from $1 to $1.50p. Andy Footitt was not in favour and Mark Priestley seconded it. A vote was taken on the issue and it was passed by 6 votes against and 12 votes for the increase to $1.50p. Peter Carey proposed that each member should pay a lump sum at the beginning of the season, in that way the club would have funds to use at the outset. Geoff Shaw said it would be advisable to raise as much money as possible because the mower would cost around $2000.

The Fixture Secretary thanked everyone for making his task a lot easier last season especially the captains who arranged all the fixtures themselves.

Mark Priestley had worked out the averages and read them out to the meeting. The averages were

BATTING: T Vennett Smith
BOWLING: H Pick
FIELDER: B Thorpe
CATCHING: S Pick

In all 45 matches had been played. A vote of thanks was extended to Mark for the tedious task of compiling the averages. Ron Priestley proposed it be added to the minutes that Harry Pick had won the bowling award for the South Notts Village League.

The Saturday captain Trevor Vennett Smith gave a report. He said the highlights of the season had been the bowling. Trevor also thanked both of the Umpires and said that Denis Kemp had now retired from playing cricket.. He also thanked Mr G Seymour for his loyal support that he gave to the teams and also for the ground and amenities..

Sunday Captain Mark Priestley read out his report. He thanked Ivan Adkin for hir advice he had given throughout the season. Mark also said that if there had been a Sunday player of the year award his choice would have been Nigel Pick.

A vote was taken during the meeting for the Clubman of the Year award and it went to Andy Footitt and the Players Player went to Harry Pick.

The election of Officers were

President Mr G Seymour
The Vice Presidents were re voted en bloc except for Mrs Dorothy Smith who decided to stand down.
Secretary Mrs M Shaw
Treasurer Mr W Pepper
Fixture Secretary Mr R Priestley
Sat Captain Mr T Vennett Smith, Sun Capt Mr M Priestley. Vice Captains Andy Footitt and Lol Selby
Committee consisting of Club Secretary, Treasurer,Fixture Secretary, Sat and Sun captains plus vice captains.

Item 11 on the agenda was ground and equipment. The roof of the pavilion is leaking and now new felting is required to repair it. Bob Pick said he would see that it was completed.. The fencing around the pitch and outfield needs repairing before the sheep are back in the fields. Geoff Shaw suggested that the fence is completed before March and make it a number one priority regardless of cost.

The Annual Presentation dinner has been arranged for the 27th February 1990 with the venue to be arranged at a later date. The Village League now has a new sponsor, The Home Brewey. Andy Footitt and Trevor Vennett Smith are on the Committee and say more funds are needed.

The Winter nets are to be held at Wilford again this year. Chris Overton was asked if he would be willing to coach the players and this he agreed to do. Also Andy Pick said he would if he was available. The team had withdrawn from the Evening League in the middle of last season and had decided not to rejoin, although they had been asked to. One of the reasons was the difficulty of getting enough players. Geoff Shaw to let the players vote and it was agreed to stay out of the Evening League.

Ron Priestley said that a letter of thanks be sent to Sammy Chapman for all of his help.. Andy Footitt said that this had already been done.

Peter Carey gave a vote of thanks to the returning officers and commented on how everyone in the
team had made him feel welcome when he joined the club.

The meeting ended at 8.45pm
