A general meeting was held at Thrumpton Hall on Friday 12th November 1982 in the presence of 20 members. Mr G Seymour took the chair. Apologies were received from Mr D Gant, Mr G Footitt and Mr P Taylor.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and were signed by the Chairman to be a correct record.
The Treasurers gave a report of the financial situation and said that the expenditure for the year was £587 and 91p and the income was £649. The Christmas raffle made £75 and the dance in the village hall made £141. Items of expenditure were equipment £14, Nets £49, Seed £43 and trophies £30. The Treasurer also stated that donations were received from Mr R Vaulkard £10 and Mr I Adkin £19 and a vote of thanks was given to them and to Mr R Priestley for all the phone calls made on behalf of the club. A vote of thanks was also given to Mr A Pick and Mr K Brown for the selling of pontoon tickets.
The averages for the season were read out (as above) by Mr R Priestley who said that the scorebook was in a bit of a mess and probably the averages were not quite accurate. A vote of thanks was given to him for the tedious job of working the figures out.
The Officials for the 1983 season were elected as follows.
President Mr G Seymour
Treasurer Mr D Swift
General Secretary Mrs M Shaw
Fixture Secretary Mr R Priestley
The Vice Presidents were voted as the previous year
The captains were then elected for the 1982 season as follows
Saturday Captain Mr I Adkin
Sunday Captain Mr A Footitt
Evening League Mr G Shaw
Vice Captain Mr R Chettle
The committee was re elected as the previous year with the addition of Mr R Chettle
The Umpires were then elected Mr J Smith Mr E Chettle Mr R Smith
Scorer Mrs R Shaw
The committee was voted en bloc
On the subject of equipment for the coming season it was stated that a fair amount of new items would be needed such as batting gloves and pads.
Its was also pointed out that the mower was in need of servicing again as last year it had played up during the season.. Mr R Pick said it was because too many people were using it. After a long discussion it was agreed that Mr I Adkin would take the mower to Highvale and see the mechanic personally.
At the moment covers for the cricket pitch are being made and it is hoped they would be finished shortly. Mr R Pick said that they would only be 2 feet high and would not be an eyesore. A vote of thanks were given to Mr R Chettle and Mr K Brown who were responsible for the welding of the covers.
The clubs thanks and gratitude was given to Mr R Smith for the work done on the pavilion and on the cricket ground.
Mr G Shaw had the Christmas Draw raffle tickets to allocate at the end of the meeting and it was arranged to hold the draw, the same as last year in the Windmill at Gotham on December 19th with the tickets being 25p per book.
Mr I Adkin expressed the clubs pleasure that Andrew Pick who had played for Thrumpton as a schoolboy had been chosen to play for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
During the evening a vote had been taken to find the Clubman of the Year and Mr D Swift declared that by a sizable majority the title had gone to Mr R Priestley.
At the end of the meeting, Mr I Adkin thanked Mr G Seymour on behalf of the club for allowing the use of the Hall for the meeting and also for the use of the cricket pitch.
