A general meeting was held at Thrumpton Hall on Friday 13th November 1981 in the presence of 18 members. Mr G Seymour took the chair. Apologies were received from Mr D Gant.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and were signed by the Chairman to be a correct record.
Thr Treasurers gave his report and said that after paying £674 and 50p during the season for equipment the club had a reserve of £141 and 91p. Mrs R Shaw asked for a breakdown of the monies spent and items included £121 for the Mower, £41 for the Battery fence and £25 for Trophies.
The averages for the season were read out (as above) by Mr R Priestley and a vote of thanks were given to him for working the figures out.
The Officials for the 1982 season were elected as follows.
President Mr G Seymour
Treasurer Mr D Swift
General Secretary Mrs M Shaw
Fixture Secretary Mr R Priestley
The Vice Presidents were voted as the previous year with the exception of Mr F Priestley
The captains were then elected for the 1982 season as follows
Saturday Captain Mr I Adkin
Sunday Captain Mr G Shaw
Evening League Mr R Pick
Vice Captain Mr A Footitt
The committee was re elected as the previous year with the addition of Mr R Smith
The Umpires were then elected Mr J Smith Mr A Pepper Mr R Smith
Scorer Mrs M Chettle
The committee was voted en bloc
On the subject of the mower Mr G Shaw pointed out that the mower needed servicing and stressed that it should be used on the table only and not on the outfield because of the damage to the blades. It was arranged to send the mower for a service.
It was also suggested that a lean to be erected behind the pavilion to store the mower and other equipment to save space in the pavilion and also to help with the wear and tear of the floor. Mr G Seymour agreed as long as it was built with the same boarding as the pavilion itself and was not unsightly. It was pointed out that the pavilion floor was in need of attention and Mr R Chettle said he would be able to get some belting to cover it.
As the club had spent over £100 on cricket balls last season Mr R Pick suggested that it would be better to buy an expensive cricket ball costing £25. After a long discussion it was decided to buy one to see how long it would last.
As no fundraising activities had taken place during the year it was suggested that a social committee be set up to organise any events.. Mr I Adkin and Mr R Priestley volunteered for this with the help of other members.. It was also agreed to approach Rosemary Small and Christine Chettle and ask if they would help to organise a similar event as they did last year.
Mr G Shaw stated that as yet he had been unable to get the Christmas raffle tickets printed in time to get them distributed at the meeting but hoped to get them shortly and it was agreed to sell them at 15p per book and to charge 40p to the Christmas Whist Drive to be held on December 17th 1981.
Mr A Footitt proposed a presentation to the club man of the year and it could be anyone who had done anything for the club during the year with the name being announced at the Annual Cricket Dinner. Apparently this award is made in most clubs.
Mr R Chettle asked about the subscriptions and it was stated that they would be the same as last year, £5 yearly and 50p per match fee.. Once again it was discussed as to whether guests should pay and both Mr R Pick and Mr G Shaw said that 99 percent of them did pay up. Mr D Swift said that there were only 9 paid up members of the club.
It was discussed about moving the scoreboard from its present position in front of the pavilion and hung on two posts further to the side because people were always walking in front of it and obstructing the players view from the pitch. Also it cut down the space for spectators to shelter in windy weather.. The other alternative was to purchase windbreaks. It was agreed to move the scoreboard.. Mr G Shaw asked for it to be noted in the minutes of our grateful thanks to Mr Thomas Seymour for his purchase of the scoreboard to the club earlier in the season.
Mr A Footitt asked that the Under 40s versus Over 40s game be brought forward to the beginning of the season rather than at the end. It was agreed.
Mr I Adkin thanked Mr G Seymour on behalf of the club for allowing the use of the Hall for the meeting and also for the use of the cricket pitch. The meeting closed at 9.30pm

Evening Post Reports
In the Division IV match between Thrumpton and ROF runs were hard to come by due to the largely unresponsive pitch, the wet outfield and some tight bowling. Thrumpton batting first were always in trouble as they struggled to 69-9. But ROF were always behind the required run rate thanks to the accurate attack of the Pick family Harry Bob and Andrew. Harry finished with 4-17. With 2 balls remaining ROF required 9 runs to win and thanks to a fine six and a scrambled 2 they achieved a creditable tie.
In Division IV Harry Picks 6-42 proved crucial as Thrumpton swept to victory over West Indies Caribs who set a useful target of 102.. G Footitt (31) and R Pick (27) kept the scoreboard ticking along but it was Harry Pick who sealed the win with 2 boundaries in the 14th over.
